Kathi has taught numerous residencies as a teaching artist for the Kentucky Arts Council and VSA Arts Kentucky, as well as for Actors Theatre of Louisville, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Looking for Lilith Theatre Company, Shakespeare Behind Bars, and as an independent teaching artist.

Kathi connects her classroom work to the Common Core, National Core Arts Standards and State Standards. She is committed to creating an environment in which students can participate to the best of the individual abilities, encouraging critical thinking and collaboration in class projects.

Topics have included: the Harlem Renaissance; Medieval production elements with Everyman; Classical production elements with Antigone; Melodrama; Native American Myths and Legends;  The Trail of Tears; Westward Expansion; Traditions of the Chinese New Year; Where the Wild Things Are; Johnny Tremaine; Number the Stars; and many more.

Kathi also directs middle and high school productions. These include Seussical Jr, Antigone, The Giver, The Miracle Worker, Charlotte's Web, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, The Phantom Tollbooth, and the student-devised Patterns We Create. She also worked with high school students at the Kentucky History Center to create an original theatre piece based on oral histories they conducted with Kentucky Women, ...By Our Sisters.
